Microsoft officially closes the project Courier
Earlier this year the Courier, the prototype tablet with dual 7-inch touch screen designed by Microsoft, had awakened much interest. At the end of 2009 was also circulated the news that the tablet could become a real product, sold in the second half of 2010. Yesterday came the rather official confirmation from Microsoft that Courier will not be produced and will be closed drawers waiting for better times.
The basis for this decision we would also be strong competition from products that have greater autonomy and better performance, as hardware and software architectures based on simple and light to Intel-based Atom processors and operating system Windows 7 . The final blow to the project Curier could have given the news of the acquisition of Palm from HP, which has already declared its intention to use WebOS on their tablet to compete on equal terms with the iPad and tablet-based Android Chrome and OS.
